If you are looking for an internship over the summer or for a gap year at university and you want to get into media then what you are or have been studying will be key here. Why media, what relevant skills do you have that a media company would find interesting? Once you know this then you can write a covering letter to go with your CV.

I am looking for an Internship for a period of (when – over the summer is when a lot of companies do internship or for approx one year as a extra year between university, ensure you put when you can do this from and to so that a company can factor this in).
I live in (where) and your office base is (where) (you will need to explain where you will live if they offer you an internship if this is not local to where you live as companies will not want to responsible for finding you somewhere to stay). (Explain why media, what interests you, what are you studying is it relevant?)
I feel that I have excellent communication skills and have had experience of communicating with various levels of people. I have written some articles at university which I have enclosed with my application and I have also had some experience of editing videos and interviews. I enjoy working in a team environment but I am also capable of working on my own initiative as required.
