Since 2010 Asda is not really accepting printed app. forms but some stores are still ok with it.
If you are applying for a checkout assistant or customer service advisor roles then those forms are ok to use.
Online applications are mostly for managers and supervisors actually.
Good luck Ceren.
Learnist CareersParticipantIt sounds like you’ve been head-hunted, but it’s very unusual that they wouldn’t provide you with a full brief and job description. Personally I would contact the person who has contacted you, and ask for a full job description so that you can better understand the role which you might be applying for. That’s not an unreasonable or inappropriate request.
It is very unlikely that the person who has contacted you would describe an induction or 2.5 hour training session as an interview. Instead it might be an interview/introduction to the company. The only other thing you can do is to continue with your research online or maybe ring the company and see if you can speak to someone actually working in the department you are proposed to be.
Good luck!

just tell them that you don’t want to for for sainsburys anymore, im sure they will fill your space in a sec.
Learnist CareersParticipanthi kerry,
they no longer accept written job applications. you would need to go to sainsburys job site online and seach vacancies and apply to the ones that are suitable for you.
here is where you need to go http://www2.sainsburys.co.uk/aboutus/recruitment/careers_new.htm
Learnist CareersParticipantone of my friend work in sainsburys and she seems like she loves it. the shifts are horrible as any other employer probably. its very dynamic and friendly atmophere, you feel like you don’t want your shift to finish… you may even say that you born to work in sainsburys.
Courage, dedication, determination, patience, the keys to work in this company.
i d recommend you to apply for a position there and get it if you can and never leave again…
finding a job is very hard these days and it will be even harder very soon. good luck……..
Learnist CareersParticipantYour jobseekers payments are based on the length of time that you are out of work, and requires evidence to prove that you are genuinely seeking new employment. It has nothing to do with your redundancy payments, and unless you are claiming inappropriately you should not need to make any repayments to HMRC… and that includes any free training you have been given by Job Centre.
May 18, 2011 at 8:13 pm in reply to: Seeking advice on getting into drug and alcohol rehabilitation work #34962Learnist CareersParticipantAs you don’t have experience dealing with the rehabilitation and social work, you will probably have to get some formal training behind you. It may be worth doing some voluntary work first to get your foot in the door (and make sure it’s something you really want to do before you retrain!)
Learnist CareersParticipantThe only place I know that offer free training programmes is the Job Centre. You should visit their website or pop into your local Job Centre and discuss the options available to you. I think they might only be available to people in search of work, but as you’re doing so few hours they might have something. There are probably grants available for self improvement from various places too, so do a search from there too.
Learnist CareersParticipantIf you’re prepared to retrain and/or take lower salaries, perhaps you ought to try positions which are more in demand in the market place. You have not detailed the experience you have or the type of roles you are applying for, but I know that even in this current market there are many vacancies in retail, restaurants and care roles. You mentioned nursing homes, perhaps care work might be a good start? With your managerial experience it might not be long before you’re working your way up the ladder.
