Last updated : 8 January 2017
I’m currently majoring in Information System, and I recently looked for jobs/internships online that are within my city but couldn’t find any that I qualify for. A lot of the IT jobs require years of experience, at least a Bachelor degree (which I’m currently working on), and knowledge about the Java language, SQL, HTML, XML, object-oriented programming, C++ language, all those computer crap. What the heck happened to the jobs that train you? Now they expect you to know all of those stuff. And where the heck do I learn all these stuff because my school doesn’t even have these kind of classes, except for java language and C++ language, and I can’t find any internships that train you those. And plus the teacher doesn’t have all the time to teach you everything in the book but only a few chapters.
What’s the use of getting a Bachelor Degree in IT if I don’t qualify for any of the jobs.
That’s precisely why I tell my high school students to talk to the people in the jobs they want and find out from them what specific education is required to get hired. Too many people get an education thinking that it will get them a job, only to find out that the education they got only helped fill empty university seats.
