Last updated : 16 October 2014
I would like to be a database admin – analyst, I would like to work as database administrator so what skills, qualifications do I need to have?
Thanks
Carmen
You will possibly need a degree but the company may not mind what subject it is in although, maths, electronics, computer studies or anything software related would be best. You will also need to be able to show that you have good skills in computer operating systems and databases with previous computer industry work preferable. They will also look for analytical, organisational, interpersonal, administrative and problem solving skills.
A lot of jobs like this will ask you for a degree. They may say that they’re not too concerned about which degree you have, but it makes sense to try and get something related to ICT and computers, because it would be much better than an unrelated degree. It would have built better skills that you could use, at least.
