Last updated : 21 November 2009
I have a very bad work history. I don’t know what to do about this. Can anyone help?
Its very hard to answer that for even very pro job experts.
Lets start;
You seem to be in a very deep hole. If I was looking at your workhistory – I’d be wondering what has changed. While I can understand andeven possibly overlook some things the one thing I’d want to know iswhy I should think this won’t happen again.
If I worked for a law firm and was considering your application – youcould be the brightest star on the horizon and yet if I’d have towonder if you wouldn’t blow an important case by simply not showing upin court.
The second question I would ask is how will hiring you benefit me? Sayyou’re that “bright star”. Ok. That’s great but will you shine on MYfirm or will you cause more damage by crawling back in your shell?
From here, it seems wise to advice you find a way to prove yourself. How can you show your value?
You haven’t said what your background is. Do you have skills that arein demand? If so things might be easier. If not, you may want toconsider acquiring some.
More education can not only add to your skillset but it could helpshowing you are making progress. Plus the more distance you can putbetween you and your past – the less of an impact it should have.
I wish you luck! and we would like to hear more about your situation and applications.
Sorry to hear your story.
