Last updated : 8 January 2017
I love Typing and I am currently studying the History of computers with a little in-depth knowledge of networks, pc peripherals and internal components. I have just sat my RSA level 2 exam. I did terribly at school but since I have had children and got my own PC all I have worked towards is a career in IT and preferably working within an office environment.
I have no idea what I want to do.
If I can’t get a job with these qualifications then i wish to pursue my career by working towards a diploma in IT.
I have no experience in the IT sector and at the moment most employers will be pushed to employ me with no experience.
I’m not a great lover of the telephone either and I prefer to work out of the public eye.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
It’s kinda hard to offer advice on this – IT is a large area! Smile So I think I’ll throw off some ideas and you can point out any the interest you and we can take it from there.
Building PCs
Fixing PCs
Building databases
Working with spreadsheets; office applications
Web design
Teaching / training IT
Programming
Copywriting (writing content)
IT support / helpdesk
Information management
There’s tonnes of other areas, but those are what I can think of right now! Wink
Ideally, you should be looking at what other areas you enjoy and trying to relate that with an area of IT. For example you said you enjoy typing – that could lead on to administration type roles or onto content / article / report writing, both of which are very different and require different skills and experience.
