Last updated : 30 August 2012
90 staff are set to lose their jobs after a West Molesey print company’s web division prepares to go into adminstration.
Planned closure of ABP web, the internet arm of printers, The Alderson Group, based in Pool Road was announced by the company on Thursday, August 23 , following weeks of speculation over the companys future.
The staff will be axed unless other positions can be found for them elsewhere within the company.
Many workers who could be up for the chop include long time and loyal employees as the troubled company tries to secure the future of the 50 year old family business.
Company Co-founder Ron Alderson said of the announcement;
“Today is the saddest day of my career. It is heartbreaking to have to tell staff that they no longer have a job.”
He added that the actions of Barclays Bank who are alledged to have withdrawn the group’s cash facility have been “nothing short of immoral and unethical” claiming that the bank “do not care about the livelihoods of the people who work here.”
Alderson Group also announced this week that it was moving parts of it’s operations away from Barclays in a bid to save jobs by ensuring it retained control of its own assets outside of the banks.
