Last updated : 4 March 2019
An exciting new Waitrose development has been proposed in Ipswich near the AquiGen (joint venture between Aquila House Holdings and Generator Group) property development between Ransomes Way and Nacton Road in Ipswich.
AquiGen is working closely with John Lewis Partnership to put together a planning application for the employment-led scheme including a 26,500 square foot Waitrose supermarket and 43,000 square foot John Lewis store.
The Aquigen development would provide 500,000 sq ft of business floorspace as well as a new Waitrose and John Lewis at home shop with the intention to create 300 new Waitrose and John Lewis job opportunities and possibly an additional 1,200 job vacancies across the development.
AquiGen’s chairman, Tony Chambers said: “We are delighted to be working with Waitrose and John Lewis to help transform the site which has been vacant since 2008. Our aim is to create a very high-quality development that can attract major businesses, create new jobs and ultimately help boost the local economy.â€
Following consultation with the local general public during summer 2011, AquiGen and John Lewis Partnership are aiming to submit a planning application in Autumn 2011 whic if approved, could be open by spring 2013.
