Last updated : 5 August 2010
Hi
I’m a freelance writer looking for interesting anecdotes about the problems jobseekers have had with obtaining references.
Anything unusual or downright bizarre might be suitable.
I would be looking to conduct a short (15-20m) recorded telephone interview or, if you happen to live in Devon or N Cornwall, a face-to-face interview
If you think you have a good story and are willing to help, please give me a brief outline either on a reply or by email
Thanks for reading
Neil
I don’t know much about unusual problems with obtaining references, but a friend and former colleague of mine has been refused a reference for her new position with another company because she was caught stealing. It can also be very difficult for school leavers taking their first job a few years after leaving school, as teachers can quickly forget their students and may be unable to write a reference from memory.
Good luck in your search for some unusual stories!
