Top 15 Jobs for Unskilled People

Not all jobs that people do are skilled roles; in fact a lot of the jobs that support the everyday life of what people do are made up of unskilled jobs. Unskilled jobs are hands on jobs that require a great deal of physical effort and strength in some cases.

1- Waste Disposal Person

If you work for the council as a Waste Disposal person then you work on an area and rota basis ensuring that people’s bins are collected and emptied from homes and businesses across the area you are assigned to and then returning the waste to the appropriate place whether it be recycling materials or general waste, garden waste etc depending on which council you work for and the structure of their waste.

2- Labourer

As a Labourer you could work on many sites but maybe as a building labourer, fetching and carrying bricks, cement etc and generally keeping a building site clean and tidy and helping other workers. A labouring job is a good start to a long term building career should you wish.

3- Gardener

As a gardener the main passion you need is for plants and trees and all things gardening. You will need to understand about the garden and how things work, when things should be planted, how you look after them etc.

4- Security Guard

As a security guard you would be responsible for the safety and well fare of a building. This could be a building site or could be a business premises or a museum etc. You could need to work nights during this role and usually operate on a rota basis.

5- Cashier

A cashier checks out food and products for buyers coming into a store or a supermarket. You will need to have a rough idea of the prices of products especially in a smaller convenience store and know how to use a till and handle money and card transactions.

6- Cleaner

As a Cleaner you will work in a person’s house or in an office premises or other business place cleaning depending on the hours and set times of where you are. As a cleaner you will need to pay great attention to detail in your work and like to make things clean and tidy.

7- Postal Worker

A postal worker spends each day sorting our post and delivering it safely through our letter boxes. This role is very hard working and depending on your patch you could be walking round with heavy mail sacks including parcels during your deliveries.

8- Road sweeper

Usually through the local council you will help to keep the roads clean and free from damage and rubbish. You could do your role in a road sweeping vehicle washing the sides of the roads or you could be doing this manually sweeping up debris and rubbish. You will be assigned a patch of area to be responsible for and this will be your daily duty.

9- Farm Hand

Working as a farm hand you could be helping to move cattle from field to field, prepare them for milking, baling in the summer months, dealing with fields and crops depending on the farm. This is a hard labouring role and one that requires physically strength and long hours.

10- Car park attendant

As a car park attendant it will be your duty to check that people are parked as they should be in the correct spaces with a valid ticket on their cars or you will need to issue parking tickets.

11- Church Warden

As a Church Warden you will help the Vicar to prepare church for services and local events. This could include organising contractors to sort the lighting and heating out, make sure the grave yard looks good and fit for visitors and dealing with visitors to the church during weddings, funerals, christenings etc.

12- Warehouse person

Working in a warehouse you will be looking for items per location, getting items ready for deliveries, assigning products to deliveries and putting stock away back into their locations.  Working in a warehouse you may get chance to get involved in other areas following some experience.

13- Sales Assistant

As a Sales Assistant you need to be good with customers and be interested in selling to customers and be interested in the products that you are selling. You will provide advice to your customers and need to build up relationships with your customers so that they come back time and again.

14- Window Cleaner

Working as a window cleaner you will need to establish your patch and clean windows usually private houses each month or set timescale. You will need to have a head for heights so that you can do the upstairs windows too and not be afraid of hard work.

15- Taxi Driver

Working as a taxi driver you will take passengers from A to B and charge them a fair set by the company. You will need to have a good working knowledge of the local area ideally.
