#1 Technical Architect
A Technical Architect works on various projects redefining a company’s systems or that of your clients. As a technical architect you will work closely with the designers and developers and ensure that the project through to implementation runs on time and efficiently.
Typically salaries for this role are from £40,000 per annum + depending on size and location of the company you work for as well as your skills and experience.
#2 IT Consultants
Working as an IT Consultant you will provide advice and solutions to your customers recommending and introducing them to new systems and ways of working. You will be a hands on person with excellent IT skills having worked up through an IT career and be looking for a more mobile and sales element role.
IT Consultants salaries start at £35,000 per annum + with the potential to earn commission, bonuses etc due to the nature of the role.
#3 IT Sales
As an IT Sales person you will work closely with an IT Consultant in terms of dealing with customers but as a Sales person you will follow up leads and target companies that could be interested in the systems or software etc that you are selling. As an IT Sales person you would probably take an IT Consultant with you to a closing appointment in order for the consultant to explain the technical nature of the systems in finer detail.
IT Sales salaries start at £35,000 + per annum with OTEs and a bonus structure, OTEs of £60,000 potential.
#4 Systems Managers/Test Managers
As a Systems or Test Manager you will be responsible for the full running of a system which runs a business. Your skills will either be more specific to testing of a system during and before a system is implemented to ensure that it has been tested thoroughly or more system focused in terms of managing the system and being responsible for how it works for the whole business and ironing out any problems along the way.
Salaries for these roles are usually between £35-50,000 depending on experience, size and location of the company you work for.
#5 IT Project Manager
As a project manager you will be required to implement and organise a project from beginning to end, managing each step of the way to ensure that the project runs smoothly and efficiently. You will need excellent management skills and an expert knowledge in IT processes and systems to be able to manage IT projects.
Typically salaries start at £50,000 per annum upwards depending on the location and size of company and projects that you are dealing with.
#6 Network/Systems Manager
As a Network or Systems Manager you will be responsible for the full running of the Network including performing any upgrades to the system and ensuring that it works in the best interests of the company. You will need to be able to understand the technical issues of the network and know how to set it up and install new programmes etc.
Typically a Network/Systems Manager salary starts from £35,000 per annum depending on size of company, this could in some cases start lower.
#7 Software Analyst/Programmer
As a Software Analyst or Programmer you will be very specialised in IT writing programmes using coding language and keeping up to date with the latest languages and best way of writing new software. This is a very specialised and detailed role and you will need previous experience in writing software maybe through a degree qualification.
Typically salaries start at £30,000 + depending on experience and size of company.
#8 IT Manager (Department Manager)
As an IT Manager it will be your role to manage a team or department and ensure the smooth running and function of IT within a business. You will need to have a generalist IT background and have a good understanding of all the functions from support to software development as you will be required to have some input and manage these areas and the members of staff.
Depending on the size of the company, team and how many people you are responsible for , the role of an IT Manager usually starts at £25,000 per annum upwards.
#9 IT Support Manager
As an IT Support Manager you will be looking after providing IT support to internal and or external people of your company. You will need to be good with people and be able to talk users through problems they may be having or be able to log on remotely to their computers and see what is happening. You will need to have a great deal of patience to do this role well.
Salaries start as a Manager £20,000 + – depending on company etc.
#10 IT Assistant
As an IT Assistant you will provide support and assistance to your colleagues (internal users) and external customers or clients. You will need to be good at helping end users with computer problems, setting up new systems, building computers etc. You will need to have a keen interest in computers and developing your career in this area.
Typically salaries can start at £15,000 +.
