Last updated : 13 June 2014
The home ware chain, The Range, has announced that they are moving into a retail park which is practically nonexistent in the hope that they can boost trade and get the retail park up and running once again to a thriving market of customers. This will be the range’s 89th branch to date and will create a mixture of full time jobs from department managers to shop floor to admin staff so a big variety for the local people of Eccles.
The new store will be based at West One Retail Park which is in Eccles, Salford and the new store will create 150 new jobs with its opening. The West One Retail Park is just off Gilda Brook Road and it suffered a massive downturn last summer when the supermarket giant,
Tesco decided not to follow through with their plans to build a £30 million store which was due to bring 400 new jobs to the retail park.
The Range are due to start work on the new store immediately and they expect to open in the autumn. The new store will be approximately 40,000 square foot and will be selling DIY arts and crafts and home products and there will also be a cafe on site.
The founder of the retail store, Chris Dawson is confident that the new store will not only create a lot of new jobs for the local people but will also hopefully boost a neglected retail park and drive more businesses to the area. They have had a lot of support from the local council and are pleased that they are going to be part of this area. Mr Dawson also went on to say that they are continuing to expand the business and they are hoping that this branch will continue to do well for the company.
Currently there is an W H Smiths on the retail park but very little else so they are hoping this to be a huge boost for trade and the local people.
