Last updated : 31 May 2014
Tesco have opened a new store in The Park Pointe in Dun Laoghaire which brings the total people employed by Tesco to 15,000 nationwide. There are 2,300 people employed by Tesco in South Dublin and 1,100 in Dun Laogahire-Rathdown making them a big employer for the local area.
Tesco have followed their company policy fully and out of the 65 new roles that they needed, 45 of them went to people who were out of work which is excellent news for the unemployment situation and people in the area. In total the store will have 82 people working there under the management of Colin Cashman.
Some of the new people made comments about their new roles and how pleased they are to be working for the supermarket giant Tesco which is excellent feedback for both Tesco as an employer and Retailer and the people for enjoying their employment.
Melissa O’Connor, age 24 from Ballybrack started with the company 4 weeks ago and is really happy with her new job because it is close to home and the people that she works with are really nice. She also feels that there are a lot more opportunities with Tesco compared to other companies which allows for a longer career.
New employees, Twins Dean and Dara Hess are also delighted to have secured jobs locally. Dara had recently finished a travel and tourism course but was really happy to get this opportunity as there are not many opportunities out there and the fact that she lives across the road is an added bonus.
Another employee, Aisling Foley aged 24 from Rathmines moves to Park Pointe after working for Tesco in Temple Bar. He said that he began working for Tesco over a year ago and has already been promoted to Team Leader and that he is looking forward to this new role in Park Pointe.
