Tesco Calne Store Will Create 150 Jobs

Tesco, the retail giant, are to create 150 part time and full time jobs in Calne. The company has granted to build a new supermarket and a petrol station on a 45,000 sq ft land.

Tesco store in Calne will be on Beversbrook Road, just off the Oxford Road roundabout and will have a car park with 316 spaces.

The store will sell wide range of products including vegetables, fresh bakeries, meat, fish etc.

The company will also build a place for Calne Town Council to support local events and activities.

Paul Ogden, president of the Calne Chamber of Commerce, said:

“I think it’s great news. There has been a lot of worry about it, but we have actually got something quite good out of it.

“To be honest I think that most of the people who use the store will end up being people who don’t come into the town centre anyway, certainly from the north side of town. We are not against competition.”

The company wil work with local recruitment agencies and jobcentre plus to find their staff. for the store.
