Tesco Creates Jobs in Mablethorpe
Tesco will generate 200 new jobs following a decision to relocate a planned new store in Mablethorpe. The company has announced it is to be part of the £50 million Lindum development proposal on Golf Road – replacing its plans for a store on Station Road in the town.
The choice to be part of the Golf Road improvement means that supplementary jobs have been created. The earlier application at Station Road would have created just 130 jobs, but the new Golf Road store will create around 200 jobs.
Last year East Lindsey District Council approved the plan for a Tesco store on Station Road on council-owned property at Station Sports Centre. As part of the decision Tesco would have built a new fitness provision in another place in the town to be run by the council. The working group similarly granted outline planning permission for the £50 million Lindum housing and retail development on Golf Road, which incorporated plans for a supermarket.
The site Golf Road site will provide plenty of parking and a petrol station next to a proposed bar and restaurant. The supermarket forms an important part of the development and helps deliver the infrastructure and benefits agreed to as part of the planning process.
