Last updated : 20 September 2012
A jobs fair was held this week at the National Waterfront Museum in Swansea to promote employment, training, education and volunteering opportunities in the area.
The free full day event, sponsored by the Evening Post and HSBC, was attended by a wide range of organisations, including charities, famous high street banks and firms that promote volunteering opportunities. Further education and training information was also available from the likes of Gower College, Swansea Metropolitan University and Computeraid.
HSBC went to the jobs fair looking to recruit for some sales and customer service jobs. Other organisations, such as Workways, The Alzheimer’s Society and The Minority Ethnic Women’s Network Wales were seeking volunteers and promoting their work in helping people into jobs and to network.
Other companies – the Evening Post and the Family Housing Association – took details of specific vacancies to the fair and spent the day talking to potential applicants.
The organiser of the fair stated that a total of 22 organisations had taken part and that the day had given local job seekers the chance to come along to hand in their CVs and talk to businesses and training organisations about getting into work or changing careers.
