Vantec announces extra jobs at its Sunderland site
A representative of the parent company of Vantec Corporation brought good news during his recent visit to its site in Sunderland in the form of an additional 81 jobs. This is on top of the 230 jobs being created as part of a multi-million pound investment in the site.
The extra jobs have been made possible by the winning of new supply contracts.
The Chancellor of the Exchequer also visited the site and welcomed the company’s progress at the same time as announcing an extension of the North East Enterprise Zone programme.
The company provides warehousing and logistics services to Nissan Sunderland, Komatsu at Birtley and Cummins Engines in Darlington. It received £2.7 million from the Regional Growth Fund to develop the warehouse, which is currently under construction. The project is so big that up to 150 construction workers will be on site at the height of the construction.
Vantec received support from Sunderland City Council on the expansion plans and its investment represents the largest the company has made during its history in the North East. The company expressed its delight at the winning of the new contracts and the progress of the warehouse and thanked the council and local enterprise partnership for its support.
The new warehouse, which is expected to be completed by December, is needed to conserve Vantec Europe’s position as the largest logistics supplier to the Nissan Sunderland site.
