New Drive-Thru Starbucks for Consett
A planning application on behalf of coffee giant Starbucks to create a large café near the A692 in Consett has been received by Durham County Council.
The plans that have been submitted are to create a drive-thru coffee shop on the former steelworks site. If approved it will be located near the unsuccessful Soprano’s restaurant, which was recently closed after the business failed. The site is also where a new Tesco superstore is planned, but this is yet to be built.
The development is expected to create ten full time and 20 part time jobs for residents in an around the town.
Signet Planning, the company who submitted the application on behalf of both developers Project Genesis and Starbucks, are optimistic that the planning permission will be granted and work on the site can start soon.
This sounds interesting, a drive thru Starbucks! – what a novel idea, I’d never have thought of it, but why not, if the market is there certainly and will be good for the local people
