Last updated : 14 August 2012
Yesterday, I applied for a job online, and today they got back to me saying ‘Would you be able to register on Friday? If so, please bring a valid passport and your national insurance card’ —what do they mean by register? Is this an interview? I really don’t know what to expect, and don’t know whether I should dress formal on not…
Hi liatoffster,
Yes it looks like they want to interview you on Friday.
If you let us know which company is this and which job you have applied for then we might help you.
Thanks for using learnist.org.
Usually, emails like that mean that they’re interested in interviewing you.
If you receive emails like that and you’re interested in the interview, reply to the email in a polite manner and inform them that you’ll be interested.
Remember to appear professional when you write, and if you’re English grammar isn’t very good, get a friend to proofread it for you. Bad spelling and grammar might put employers off.
That sounds like an interview to me, Well Done!
Regardless of whether you are being interviewed, booking an interview, taking your documents or using their toilet, it is essential you are dressed well. You only get one chance at a first impression.
Expect to be asked interview questions, and rehearse potential scenarios and answers to their questions so you don’t go in completely unprepared!
