Office Junior Salary – What are the average pay rates for a office junior job in the UK?
Becoming an office junior is a great place to start any career. When you are taken on as a junior, it is assumed you will not have lots of experience so you can learn many skills in a hands on environment such as faxing, typing, filing, computer work and customer service. These skills can be cultivated and developed in this workplace and used in many other job roles. Your role will normally involve using the computer to create spreadsheets, documents and templates for office use. You will learn to answer the phone and deal with queries, bookings and problems that arise. You may be required to book in meetings and appointments and so will develop organisational skills. The role will need you to file important information and learn how to keep information in a variety of ways so people can find it quickly. You may need to research things or use the internet to obtain information, or process payments. The role involves every aspect of running an office and contributing to the team.
An office junior would not be expected to have experience but employers may like to see English and Maths GCSEs and a general understanding of an office based role.
Starting salary: £10,000 – £12,000 depending on age
Experienced salary: £15,000
This is a really good opportunity for those with little experience. You’re not expected to have loads of experience behind you, so it’s great to hear that there are things like this available for people who are looking to start off in a job.
