What are the national minimum wage rates in 2014?
The Naitonal Minimum Wage Rates per hour depends on your age and your job type. You must be at least school leaving age to get those rates below.
Year
2014
21 and over
£6.31
18 to 20
£5.03
Under 18
£3.72
Apprentice
£2.68
I still think this should be higher, then we wouldnt need to top up with tax credits. I’m in a job that pays as a starting salary just above the min wage, so its ok but could be better
The rates have now changed slightly, with the adult NMW being £6.50 an hour. I think that this is a good thing, because even small amounts such as this will mean that people are able to take a little bit more home with them at the end of each month. Even a small amount will mean that they can take more than they otherwise would have done, so it is a very welcome change.
