Morrison’s makes its way to Torquay

Morrison’s has confirmed that it plans to open a store in Torquay, which will create 200 jobs. The store, which will be ‘fresh-format’, will be one of the largest Morison’s in the area.

Morrison’s have got in there ahead of other supermarkets as it is believed that three or four others are looking at the outskirts of the city for a new store as well. In fact, Tesco’s have submitted planning permission already, and it is believed that Sainsbury’s are planning to expand their existing site at Paignton.

However, these potential developments have not gone down well with local businesses who say that having four major supermarkets on the outskirts of the city could destroy their setups in the city.
