Last updated : 22 May 2011
BARGAIN chain B&M is buying 11 Focus DIY stores – saving 211 jobs. B&M, which already has 230 branches selling branded Âproducts at cheap prices, is acquiring the outlets from administrators handling the sale of collapsed Focus.
Another 345 workers are being taken on by rival Wickes in a deal to buy 13 Focus DIY branches. But while B&Q has snapped up a further 31 stores, staff will have to reapply for their jobs.
Some 2,500 Focus workers – including staff in 123 stores that are still up for sale – are awaiting their fate.
