McDonald’s Expands Creating New Jobs
The world’s second largest fast food chain McDonald’s is to create 700 jobs across Ireland by the end of 2015.
The global giant has announced plans for a 20 million euro investment in its Irish business between now and the end of 2015, which will include the opening of 12 new fast food outlets.
The latest opening in Ireland at Airside, Co Dublin created 82 new jobs and brings the total number of Irish employees to just over 4,000. The company is expected to have nearer 5,000 staff on its payroll when the other restaurants are built.
A number of McDonald’s restaurants are operated on a franchise basis, creating many small business owners who have developed successful businesses as well as creating jobs in their communities.
Sales at McDonald’s in Ireland rose by 3.3 per cent to €209 million in 2011. Analysis by Indecon Economic Consultants has found McDonald’s overall spending in the Irish economy on food, restaurants and labour last year was €283.7 million. The new restaurants will be based all over Ireland and recruitment for the jobs is likely to take place in January 2013.
