1,000 M&S jobs to be created in Leicestershire
The well known high street retailer Marks and Spencer has announced a massive recruitment programme to hire more than 1,000 people to work in its new distribution hub in Castle Donington in Leicestershire. The posts available will include engineers, warehouse operators, mechanics and administration workers.
The site is on a huge scale, at 900,000 sq ft, and cost the company hundreds of millions of pounds to build. The warehouse will have the responsibility of distributing in the region of 2 million clothing and houseware products across the UK every week.
A senior representative of Tesco stated that the site was a very important part of the company’s long term strategy and would significantly boost its ability to sell to customers in a number of different ways, including online and ordering in store.
Following the high profile of the Paralympics, the company will work with Remploy to recruit as many people who have disabilities or long term health conditions for the available posts.
100 people are already working on the site, which is scheduled to open fully in the spring of 2013.
Further information on the vacancies can be found at Marks and Spencer’s website.
This is excellent news. Well done M&S (or Tescos, confused as to who exactly is opening this centre). Even better news that people with disabilities will be actively encouraged to work here, thats brilliant
