London’s leisure sector earned praised from Mayor of London Boris Johnson after the
Industry created 1,750 new positions last month.
The new vacancies include 215 permanent roles and 1,000 part-time positions at the Sushisamba and Duck & Waffle restaurants at the Heron Tower.
Another 500 roles have been created by ONE Group, STK and their partners at the Hippodrome Casino and ME Hotel in Aldwych, while 45 new positions have been put up for grabs by restaurant chain owner CJ Foodville at Bibigo restaurant in the Soho area.
The London Mayor said he believed the capital had benefited from being in the spotlight during the Olympic Games adding;
““London has been basking in the world spotlight for the past month and international investors have rightly seen that the capital is the best big city in which to start and grow a business.â€
The British Hospitality Association, a leading voice in the leisure sector said the busy capital offered a lot of opportunity for expansion due to the high number of both overseas and domestic visitors.
A spokesman for the association added;
“We believe the catering industry and the hospitality industry as a whole gives huge opportunities to young people for a career, so the more jobs we can create the better it is.â€
