Last updated : 3 March 2019
170 jobs are to be lost due to the closure of insurance provider Kwik-Fit Financial Services Birmingham centre after the company announced its decision to begin the relocation process with immediate effect.
Kwik-Fit confirmed the closure of the centre on Friday, August 31, following a consultation period with its employees that’s been ongoing since May.
The company were quick to highlight that during the 90 day consultation period, a series of options were presented to staff and claimed over 60% of the 170 employees affected had secured new employment through a range of opportunities provided.
Options offered included potential relocation to the firm’s Glasgow centre and opportunities with parent company Agea in its Stoke and Gloucester operations.
June Lynch, managing director of Kwik-Fit Financial Services, said that a key feature of the consultation process had been to provide local job opportunities for as many affected staff at the Birmingham centre as possible adding that she was extremely pleased that “many have taken advantage of relocation opportunities to secure employment.”
She added;
“We wish them every success in the future.”
