Last updated : 4 June 2011
Krispy Kreme plans to double the number of stores in the UK. The US doughnut chain is planning to open more and more stores in the UK and is hoping to create 750 more job vacancies.
The company first came to the UK in 2003 starting out with a concession in the Harrods department store. It has since opened 47 stores nationwide and plans to grow this number to 100 by 2016. The next store will open in Leeds in July.
Krispy Kreme also sells in 50 Tesco stores and has recently announced that it will open cabinets in ten WH Smith Stores.
The announcement regarding the expansion plans comes as Krispy Kreme UK reported a 1.4% increase in like-for-like sales year-on-year. Total sales for the year to 31 January were £33.4 compared to £29.7 million pounds in the previous year. Revenue grew by 12.6%.
