John Lewis are preparing to construct a new 9,290 square metre department store at the Monks Cross centre on the edge of York. It is expected that the new outlet will provide 300 new job vacancies when it is complete.
Oakgate are the development company dealing with the project who anticipate that the new store will be open by Autumn 2013.
A spokesperson from John Lewis commented that the new store on the outskirts of York will mean that shoppers no longer need to travel to their stores in Sheffield and Newcastle, making shopping at John Lewis more convenient.
