Last updated : 27 March 2010
is it worth to post resume on the net? do you think its waste of time and not secure?
Well, it most certainly can’t hurt, especially since it only takes a few moments to do on sites like careerbuilder.com or monster.com. But don’t let that be the only thing you do. Looking in the newspapers, talking to anyone you know, and directly contacting companies are all still good methods.
Since most things are done online these days, I would say its a very good idea. Joining certain job seekers sites/forums expect that of you anyway. That way your potential employer can have a read of your CV before getting intouch with you, it can save alot of time.
I definitely think posting a resume or CV online is worthwhile. Some recruiters or employers do browse online CVs routinely and if yours isn’t there, how do you expect them to see it?
As for it not being secure, enclose all the information you usually would, except your home address and telephone number. Include an email address, but it is a good idea to create a new one for the specific purpose of new employers contacting you. This way, if you start receiving spam, you aren’t losing a personal email account and you can close that one and make a new one.
