Last updated : 23 May 2013
Do people find its better to send their CV to lots of job agencies or just stick with a few of the better known ones?
It is probably better to start off by sending off to the larger ones first and see what happens. You may be inundated by offers. If you do not start to hear back form them, then try some others as well. It is certainly wise to try the better known ones first.
You should avoid Agencies if at possible.
Agencies consist mainly of chaff in my experience. I’ll give an example.
A few years back I received tonnes of interest from agency callers but only ended up getting a job after finding one myself.
Nowadays if I send my CV, I barely receive any interest. If I do the work and target specific ads I don’t receive any acknowledgement to my applications either. Even if the job is a blatant skills match, the result is a no response. Are agencies incredibly stupid or what?
I am interested that you found agencies to be rubbish! I wonder what type of jobs you were looking for and perhaps it may depend on what industry you are looking for work in as to whether agencies are good. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
Post your CV in online job portals. Keep an eye on latest jobs through newspapers etc. I am sure it will help
