Last updated : 22 September 2013
Hi all,
I am considering relocating to Yorkshire, preferably central/south as well as a slight change in employment and would like to gauge the employment opportunities.
I am an aircraft engineer with a HND in electrical engineering and 12 years experience. I have managerial experience as well as continuos improvement.
I hope to earn upwards of £45,000.
I would be grateful if anyone could let me know what my chances are as well as the fields I could explore to best suit my assets. Currently I don’t know whether I should remain in aircraft work or change to renewable energy etc.
Thanks in advance.
Grant
Hi Grant
Probably late but there didn’t used to be much aircraft engineering in Yorkshire. It used to be a lot of steel and mining but to be honest that all changed years ago too. I’m not sure you can earn £45k in Yorkshire at all to be honest with you (I’m from there originally)
If you were a little more flexible with where you’re willing to relocate to, I would imagine that there would be a lot more opportunities for you. The best thing to do is to use a job search engine to see what there is, and what kind of qualifications or experience you need in order to be eligible for the roles in question. As the poster above said, Yorkshire isn’t exactly renowned for this area, but that doesn’t mean that there are no opportunities at all.
