Hi there.
Please help me with my motivation letter. I meet some trouble in expressing my self and don’t know how to write to “sell” myself so i can have a bigger chance to win the job. The problem is the job i want to apply is absolutely irrelevant with the job i am doing. I am working as an aestatic doctor now and i wanna apply job as national professional officer working in HIV/AIDS section. And i don’t know is it better for me to mention about my previous working experience or not. Will they eliminate me when they read, my background is tottaly contrary with the job? Even it may seems impossible that i will be given the job, because of the difference background on my previous working experience, but i wanna give it a try. And wish can make them give me a chance, so i have to make my motivation letter as good as possible. Please help me.. Thank you so much
Dear Sir/Madam,
With this letter, i would like to express my motivation for an employment at World Health Organization and wish to apply for the post as a National Professional Officer (HIV/AIDS).
My name is Catherine. I received my degree as a Medical Doctor from Tarumanagara University. Personally, i define myself as an energetic and open minded achiever with a dynamic, goal-oriented attitude with an insatiable appetite to keep learning. My ability to structure time and fit my activites into my schedule helped me to complete given project successfully. Additionally, i have always demonstrated commitment to excellence, through my academic career and through my previous working experience. If you give me the opportunity, i will be glad to continue this commitment to excellence by working in your organization.
I am prepared to adapt myself to the new working situation. I now desire a fresh challenge, with the possibility of progression, to enable me to fulfill my career objectives. Given my eagerness to learn and solid academic record, i believes that i am well-suited candidate to fill such a position in affiliation with your organization. I think the opportunity to work in your organization can definitely provide a rare opportunity for gaining the valuable experience that i am looking for.
I am motivated to take up this job as i am passionate about improving people’s health in collaborative and stimulating environment that encourages me to develop myself professionally as well as personally. Knowing that the HIV/AIDS epidemic in this country is one of the fastest growing in Asia in the last 5 years, is given me a strong desire to contribute my knowledge to be a part of a bigger purpose.
I enclose copies of my curriculum vitae for your reference. If i am given the post, i assure you that i Shall do my best to give you full satisfaction in the job i am assigned, and hope to win your confidence. Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Thank you for your time and attention in reviewing my resume.
Best Regards,
Catherine

Your letter clearly demonstrates that you are keen to learn and motivated about working in the vacancy. I would certainly include details of your previous experience as although it may not be directly related there are relevant skills – dealing in the medical profession, working with people, time management, paperwork etc. You should be able to review the job description and pick out items which you are already familiar with.
We wish you the best of luck and would like to hear how you get on.
