Last updated : 19 September 2014
My question is Can I resign from my job while I am suspended? There are long story behind this question but I would rather not to disclose it here, sorry.
Thanks
It is possible to do this yes. However, you will have a notice period in your employment contract and they could sack you during this time. You may be able to ask them to accept your resignation and allow you to leave immediately but this will be up to them as to whether they allow that or not. Of course, if they accept your immediate resignation you will only be paid up until the date it was accepted.
I would imagine that this depending very much on the situation that you’re in. Some businesses would be happy to let people go without working notice if they’ve been suspended, especially if there is some kind of hearing upcoming – you leaving earlier would save the expense of this, so it might be something that they would be willing to do. You should talk to them and see what they say.
