Last updated : 13 June 2014
Burger King are moving into Wishbech town centre taking over the old Dorothy Perkins and Burton clothing store unit at the Horsefair shopping centre. Since the Dorothy Perkins and Burton clothing store closed its doors, the retail unit has been used by Wisbech Art Space who are now moving to another unit in the centre. They are almost about to begin work on the new giant fast food restaurant and the Manager of the Shopping Centre, Kevin Smith is delighted that Burger King are coming to the town.
Mr Smith feels that it is a great addition to the town centre and it is good to attract national chains like Burger King and it gives people more choice of food and is a great addition to the town of Wisbech. They were pleased when Costa Coffee opened its doors in May and since opening it has been busy every single day so Mr Smith feels that Burger King will be just as popular.
The building work that needs to be done to the new Burger King unit will be starting later this week and is expected to take between four and six weeks. Also in the area there are hopes for a new takeaway to be moving into the Bodgers store in Lynn Road and if this goes ahead then this will also create 35 jobs making it an exciting time and opportunity for the local residents. There are also rumours around the town of Wisbech suggesting that Dominos could be moving into the town and taking over the Bodgers store if the proposed change of unit is accepted.
At the moment any further comments are being kept quiet until the plans are confirmed then the individual companies will announce their new openings if going ahead. All in all its exciting times for the Cambridgeshire area and the local residents seeking new employment.
