Last updated : 29 August 2012
Building firm Charcon Construction Solutions will create 250 new jobs in the Lound area after taking on the former Tarmac site at Chainbridge Road Quarry, Lound.
Portfolio holder for community prosperity Coun David Pressley said that the council was “extremely pleased” to have secured the deal with the company and added;
“The creation of up to 250 jobs over the next two years is a fantastic boost to the local economy.”
Leader Coun Simon Greaves also welcomed the move stating that the deal with international company Charcon would really put the area on the map and claiming that this shows there is “no barrier” to investment in Bassetlaw.
He added;
“We will continues to work hard to attract more businesses to the area.”
The construction firm has already generated 40 new jobs for people living within 11 miles of the site and will invest a further £1.75m into re-opening two closed factories on the site.
