BOWEN CONSTRUCTION, once one of the biggest building companies in the State, has gone into liquidation with the loss of at least 76 jobs.
John Bowen, the firm’s owner, expressed “profound sadness†at the end of the company after 43 years of trading.
“I feel desperately sorry for staff, suppliers, subcontractors and all who are affected,†Mr Bowen said last night.

Bowen Construction, the Cork building company has gone into administration after 43 years of operation. The news means that its 70 workers are now left facing likely redundancy however this figure is likely to be swollen by the associated knock-on effect of subcontractors and suppliers going to the wall.
The reason for the company’s demise was given as poor cash-flow.
Bowen Construction were involved in many large projects ranging from motorways to major buildings.
