Last updated : 3 March 2019
Starting salaries for Booksellers are between £13,000 and £18,000 a year. Booksellers who work for large companies can earn more salaries with experience.
Store managers and senior staff earnings can be between £25,000 and £45,000 a year.
You can also benefit from bonuses for selling over the target at some companies.
Take these salary figures as a guide only, it’s not appropriate to use for your negotiations.
If you owned your own shop or stall then your earnings as a bookseller could vary massively to those quoted. as the owner you take all of the risk and have to cover all of the expenses which can really add up. However, you also get to take all of the profits when there are a lot. It would be interesting to hear form anyone who has done this to see what their experience was.
