Last updated : 31 May 2014
ASDA are pleased to announce that they could be creating 400 jobs when they open there new store in Redditch. The new site is said to be 50,000 square foot.
Planning permission has been sought by Redditch Council and so far talks with the community seems to be going well for the Asda and B&Q’s store plans for the town and they have held a two day public exhibition in December where people could come and look at the plans and discuss these and over 95% expressed their support.
Local residents have been supporting Asda and B&Q greatly in their plans and urging them to push on with their plans to move as quickly as possible. Residents are in favour of the greater choice of shopping that they will be able to have, the competition that this brings and the creation of hundreds of jobs for the local people that this will create. This has shown to the stores the huge interest they have from the local community.
This community feedback is being received via a dedicated website asdaredditch.co.uk and the website details all the proposal information and an option to be able to leave a comment or ask questions straight to the development team. This method of communication and the website will remain active until the council makes a decision on the proposal.
The local economy will receive a huge boost for this development and in the long term will benefit hundreds of local households. If the planning permission is granted, the stores should be up an running by early 2016.
The Asda team are very pleased with the positive feedback they have had and would like to thank everyone for their feedback. The new store will be including food and non food lines allowing to serve a good mixture of customers for their needs.
