Over 1,000 jobs to be created in Sussex!
Sussex is embracing a substantial jobs boost, created by two supermarkets and an insurance company expanding their plans in the region.
Supermarket giants Asda and Sainbsury’s will create over 900 jobs between them when they open their respective new stores in Ferring, near Worthing, and Bognor. The Asda store will open in November while Sainsbury’s plans to open early in 2013.
A spokesperson for Asda expressed pride in the company’s investment in the area and stated that applications for the many posts available are still open.
In addition, Hastings Direct intends to create 200 new full-time and part-time jobs across the next year at its offices in Brighton and Hove, Hastings, Eastbourne and Bexhill, although some customer facing roles need to be filled right away.
The company’s HR Director stated that she was particularly interested in applications from people who want to work part-time or job share. The company is also running a graduate recruitment programme this autumn for vacancies across the organisation that are both full-time and part-time.
The Brighton and Hove Economic Partnership welcomed the news but indicated that times were still hard and that more needed to be done to improve the unemployment situation in the area.
