Last updated : 23 February 2016
Good afternoon,
I found this site in a hunt for information (on behalf of my brother) and wondered if I could get some advice please.
My brother is a good lad, 23 years old and a bit lost, moreso as the years pass. He hasn’t worked since 16, the circumstances of him leaving his job were strange and I do suspect something happened that upset or affected him deeply, he went from model employee hungry for overtime, to an introvert scared to go out and get another job. I spend my lunchtimes trying to call round jobs etc, but of course it’s not me they want to hear from.
I’m not seeking a solution to his issues, but as time goes on the gap on his CV is growing bigger, and through my own experience of recruiting bodies, I know it’s looking worse by the day to any potential employer.
My question is then, could you offer any advice I can work with, such as areas of work known to not need experience, perhaps ideas on places with less emphasis on previous record? His record is immaculate, just empty! Perhaps even someone relaying their own experience with entering the working world later than most might give some ideas, I’m grateful for anything here. Thanks very much for any guidance.
John
