Last updated : 8 November 2012
Thirty new jobs are being created in Ilkeston with the opening of a Family Bargains store later this month.
This is the 25th Family Bargain shop to open in the UK, with the chain being owned by the well-known 99p Stores chain.
This latest outlet is set to open in the former Focus DIY store on the Waterside Retail Park off Station Road. The Focus DIY store closed in summer 2011, after the company suffered huge financial losses and went into administration.
The new owners say that the £350,000 Family bargains outlet will stock everyday items such as food, drink, household and electrical goods at knock-down prices – including 99p Christmas trees.
With the huge success of their 99p outlets the company saw an opportunity to expand to larger items t as well as single price 99p value products so created the Family bargains brand.
As an opening offer the company is offering one Ilkeston family the chance to win £200 of shopping at the store.
To be in with a chance of winning the shopping voucher, e-mail two sentences about ‘Why we love Christmas’ to [email protected] before 12midnight on Sunday November 18.
The winners will also be the first in the store when it opens at 10am on Tuesday November 20.
This sounds great, wonder which family won some items. I love the Bargain and 99p shops, can get so much in there its amazing!
