If you have a caring nature and want to make a difference to people’s lives, helping patients with their day to day care either in their own homes or in hospitals, care centre’s etc.
Usually you do not require any specific training or qualifications to enter into this role, however once in this role it is normal to begin doing NVQ qualifications related to healthcare to improve your skills and learn on the job.
The role of a Healthcare Assistant isn’t very glamorous and can sometimes require a strong physical and mental attitude as it can be upsetting or messy depending on the situation. In some cases you could be the only friendly face that person sees all day so it is important to be welcoming and nice to all patients.
